Teresa McCaig Marshall

A native of Paris, Tennessee, Teresa received her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin, Cum Laude, where she majored in Psychology. She then earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law and was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1995. She immediately joined the Law Office of W. Brown Hawley, II as an Associate Attorney.

In 2000, she became a full partner and the Law Office of Hawley & Marshall was formed. In 2016, the Law Office of Hawley & Marshall transformed into Hawley, Marshall, & McCadams, PLLC where Teresa continued the role of managing partner and focused her practice on family law, particularly adoption, divorce, and juvenile law. After twenty-one years of practice, Teresa decided to pursue a solo career. On January 2, 2017, she opened Marshall Law.

With over two decades of experience, Teresa is committed to family law but she will also assist you with general civil law, criminal law, or personal injury matters. She is an experienced litigator and will fight diligently to protect and enforce your legal interests. In appropriate cases, she promotes alternative dispute resolution, such as settlement negotiations and mediation with certified third-party mediators. She believes such out-of-court resolutions are less stressful, less expensive, and more satisfying (for all parties) than the more traditional, prolonged litigation.

Teresa spent the first four years of her practice as a divorcee and single mother. Therefore, she realizes the extremely high level of stress and complex emotions that divorce and child custody proceedings cause for the entire family. Relating on both a personal and professional level, she will work diligently to prioritize you and your children’s best interests. She will also assist in preparing you to work harmoniously with the other parent to provide a healthy environment for you and your children after legal proceedings.
